Captain: Were focused on getting Euro victory

SCOTT Brown says that Celtic are focused on getting all three points when they welcome Dinamo Zagreb to Celtic Park in the UEFA Europa League this Thursday night.

The Celtic skipper is looking forward to another European night at Paradise and believes that a strong performance at home is essential if the Bhoys want to progress from their group.

He said: Its going to be a hard game. Weve seen a video of them and they look a strong team. Theyve got great players there as well and were really looking forward to it.

Were also looking forward to getting the fans along to another European night at Celtic Park, which is great for the club.

We want to try and play against the best and this group is going to be hard for us but I think weve got the players in the dressing-room who can definitely do it.

The lads are looking forward to it and the fans that Ive spoken to are looking forward to it too.

Obviously we want to try and go as far as possible and our aim is to try progress from the group. Tomorrow is hopefully going to be one step closer to it.

The game against the Croatian champions follows on from the back-to-back wins over Hearts and St Mirren, and the Celtic captain believes that both victories have boosted confidence within the squad.

While fully aware that his team face a tough test against Dinamo Zagreb, Brown feels the entire squad will benefit from the experience of European football this season.

He said: We want to improve with every game. Weve had a couple of bad results, we know that but weve also had some great performances so we need to put the great performances in more regularly and we need to try and up our game at home and away in Europe as well."

Celtic 8623a63454700cdbc1ca938dcb37271e.png 0-1 Hamilton_crest_20100830111350.gif Hamilton

Een teleurstellend resultaat van Celtic met heel veel gemiste kansen welke door het publiek absoluut niet werd gewaardeerd, dit was Celtic onwaardig!!!

A SECOND-HALF strike from Ali Crawford gave Hamilton Accies a 1-0 victory at Celtic Park. The Hoops failed to find an equaliser and were left frustrated and disappointed at the final whistle.

Hamilton began the match on the attack and a quick ball into the box from left-back Stephen Hendrie was missed by the Celtic defence, causing an early scare, but Anthony Stokes hooked the ball clear.

The Hoops then began to exert their own pressure and had a good chance to go in front on the 10-minute mark but Guidettis shot on the turn curled inches past Michael McGoverns far post.

The Hoops found joy down the left flank, with clever passing between Stokes and Emilio Izaguirre forcing Hamilton to concede a succession of corners.

Stokes then went close to opening the scoring after an over-lapping run from Izaguirre opened up space for the Irishman in the box but his right-footed shot curled wide of McGoverns post.

Determined play from Virgil van Dijk in the Accies box set up Jason Denayer but his header was saved, one-handed, by McGovern. That sparked a flurry of attacks from Ronny Deila's side but they still couldn't find the breakthrough.

Accies almost stole the lead going into the break, however, after Mickael Antoine-Curier robbed Denayer on the half-way line and sprinted down on the Celtic goal, but Virgil van Dijk managed to catch the Hamilton striker and deflect his shot out for an Accies corner.

Two more set-pieces followed and Celtic broke up the pitch following the third after Johansen cleared. Stokes broke free but his final ball to Guidetti was intercepted and the teams went into the break level.

Celtic immediately attacked Hamilton after the re-start but went a goal behind against the run of play. Jesus Garcia Tena broke free down the Celtic left and played a low cross into the box, which evaded Denayer and van Dijk before Ali Crawford fired a shot low past Gordon to put his side in front.

Celtic sought an immediate reply and almost got it through Kris Commons but his shot from the edge of the box was tipped round the post by McGovern.

The champions continued to pile the pressure on and won a series of corners for their troubles. Denayer had a header cleared off the line from the last of those but Hamilton survived the onslaught.

Louis Longridge replaced Daniel Redmond for Hamilton before Ronny Deila put on Leigh Griffiths for Guidetti and replaced Wakaso with Aleksandar Tonev.

Griffiths had an instant impact by setting up Stokes with a good run and cross down the right but the Irishmans header went wide.

Commons then saw a close-range flick tipped behind by McGovern as Celtic piled on the pressure but the corner came to nothing. Denayer then had a shot saved after Gillespie was booked for a foul on Tonev in the box but no penalty was given.

At the other end Hamilton almost doubled their lead as the Celtic defence became stretched but Antoine-Curiers shot on the turn was weak and Gordon gathered easily.

Celtic remained frustrated as the final whistle drew nearer as Hamilton camped on the edge of their box to thwart the Hoops attacks. Commons went close with a header but McGovern saved to keep his side ahead.

Anthony Stokes then went agonisingly close too after he rose to meet a Tonev cross but his glancing header flashed wide of goal.

Ronny Deila pushed van Dijk up front as Hamilton replaced Anthony Andreu and Antoine-Curier with Darren Lyon and Andy Ryan, and the Dutchman did well to win a late corner.

Tonev took the set-piece but his cross to the front post was cleared by Accies before referee Steven McLean blew the whistle for full-time.

CELTIC (4-2-3-1) Gordon; Ambrose, Denayer, van Dijk, Izaguirre; Brown, Johansen; Wakaso (Tonev 60), Commons, Stokes; Guidetti (Griffiths 60)

Subs not used: Zaluska, Scepovic, Berget, Kayal, OConnell.

HAMILTON (4-1-4-1) McGovern; Gordon, Devlin, Garcia Tena, Hendrie; Gillespie; Imrie, Crawford, Redmond (Longridge 55), Andreu (Lyon 88); Antoine-Curier (Ryan 88)
